The EC probe is a crucial component of every hydroponic setup, it determines the electrical conductivity of the water in your Grobo or other hydroponic setups.
What is Electrical Conductivity (EC)?
Electrical conductivity is the measurement of salts in your system, which are the nutrients your plant uses to grow. It's important to always keep an eye on the EC of your water to ensure your plant is not being over or underfed. If you have a Grobo, no need to worry about this, it automatically adjusts your waters EC as needed.
How Often Do I Need to Replace an EC Probe?
While your Grobo comes with an EC probe, we recommend changing it every 2 years for optimal performance. Make sure to also take a look at our probe care kit, as these will help your probe stay in tip-top shape.
What Solution Should the Conductivity Probe be Calibrated With?
EC probes are calibrated with a 2-point calibration. The first point is 0, which indicates a dry probe in the air. The second point is a calibration solution at 2.77 EC. Once both points are entered, your probe is calibrated and ready to grow! Grobo makes calibrating your EC probe very simple, follow the instructions in our app and your probe will be calibrated in no time.
